More than 1,400 COVID-19 cases confirmed in Romania in 24 hours, total exceeds 68,000

Romania reported 1,415 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 68,046 on Friday, August 14, according to the official daily report.

The daily jump is slightly lower than the one reported on Thursday when the authorities announced that Romania added 1,454 coronavirus cases in 24 hours

Apart from the new cases, 611 patients retested positive for the COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours, Friday’s report said. 

More than 1.47 million tests were performed in Romania so far, of which 22,914 in the last 24 hours.  

A total of 31,920 patients were declared cured so far, and 7,497 asymptomatic patients were discharged ten days after the diagnosis. 

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 2,904. A total of 44 deaths were reported between August 13 (10:00) and August 14 (10:00), in the age categories of 30-39 years (one death), 40-49 years (5 deaths), 50-59 years (4 deaths), 60-69 years (13 deaths), and 70-79 years (13 deaths), and 80+ years (8 deaths). Forty-three of the patients had previous medical conditions. 

The number of patients admitted to intensive care units was 473 on Friday, August 14. In total, 7,431 coronavirus patients are hospitalized. 

The same report announced that 8,799 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated at home, and 5,179 are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 24,859 people are under quarantine at home, and 77 are in institutionalized quarantine.
