Central Bank slashes key interest rate in Romania to new minimum
Romania’s Central Bank BNR further slashed the key monetary policy rate in its meeting today (March 31), from 2.25%, to 2%. This is the lowest ever key interest rate in Romania. The BNR kept the level of minimum reserves for passives in RON and in foreign currency.
The Central Bank also decided to lower the Lombard overnight lending rate from 4.25%, to 3.75%, while keeping the interest rates for deposits to 0.25%.
The measures will be applied starting April 1, 2015.
