01 April 2013

A series of events will greet the around 40,000 people expected to arrive at the Romanian seaside during the May 1 mini-holiday, which would be 20 percent more than last year. The northern part of the Romanian seaside is more popular during this period, with Mamaia resort being the favorite target, while visitor numbers tend to be lower at the more southerly resorts.

A car parade including 50 off-road cars, 20 vintage cars and 15 performance cars will be organized during the week-end in Mamaia and will visit the other resorts as well. Clubs will organize concerts, while many open air gigs will also be held, as around 70 percent of those who spend May 1 on the seaside are young people.

With the Orthodox Easter on May 5, the authorities are seeking the OK from the Romanian Patriarchy to allow the organization of the Easter Mass on the beach, in Mangalia and Constanta.

Mamaia seaside resort will have around 90 percent of its hotels open on May 1. The resort has a capacity of 35,000 places, out of the total 120,000 places across the entire Romanian seaside.
