Bucharest International Dance Film Festival kicks off next week

The first edition of Bucharest International Dance Film Festival will take place at Union Cinema in Romania’s capital between November 6 and November 8.

The event is dedicated to dance productions performed by choreographers from around the world and aims to promote films about dance and choreographic art.

The event’s program includes the International Competition, short and feature-length documentaries, and a selection of the most popular dance films within the Pool International Dance Film Festival in Berlin. The festival’s Official Competition includes 54 films.

Some of the short films to be screened during the festival are Edifice, Ferry, Mister Y, Tonight, Lay Me Low, I Want, and Knock.

The jury will be made of Sarah Mölle – artistic director Pool International Dance Film Festival, Andreea Căpitănescu – artistic director 4Culture, WASP-Working Art Space and Production, and eXplore festival, and Jevan Chowdhury – dance film director and founder of Moving Cities project.

The most original film will get a prize of EUR 1,000 while the award for the most promising director will be post-production services provided by Colorgrade.
