Bodnariu family plan to move to Romania

16 August 2016

Romanian-Norwegian couple Marius and Ruth Bodnariu, who have lived in Norway for more than ten years, have decided to move to Romania after the Norwegian authorities have indicted them for violence against minors.

The Bodnariu family had their children taken away by the Norwegian child protection services (Barnevernet) last year. Their children were given back to them in June this year, after many protests in Romania and abroad.

“After the children’s return, especially in the last period, we’ve tried to find our privacy, tranquility, and peace by leaving Naustdal and visiting Romania. We already see this as a success for several reasons, which prompted us to take the decision to remain in Romania,” reads a statement of the family published on Bodnariufamily.org.

They are currently trying to find a place in Romania to establish residence.

Ruth and Marius Bodnariu also said that they were surprised by the Norwegian authorities’ decision to continue the investigation against them for violence against minors. According to them, this is not a new case, but the same case that started in November 2015.
