BBC Concert Orchestra to play at Romanian festival this fall

Famous BBC Concert Orchestra will close the 2016 edition of RadiRo Festival in Bucharest. The British orchestra will perform at the Sala Radio in Bucharest on October 1, under the baton of Barry Wordsworth.

The concert will bring violinist Charles Mutter to Bucharest, as well Ileana Ruhemann, the orchestra’s principal flutist, born of German and Romanian parents.

BBC Concert Orchestra is a British orchestra based in London, one of the British Broadcasting Corporation’s five radio orchestras. It plays a mix of classical music, light music, and popular numbers.

A total of six symphony orchestras from Europe and Asia will come to Bucharest this fall, to play at the RadiRo Festival, namely the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra, MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, ORF Radio – Symphonie Orchester Wien, BBC Concert Orchestra and, the host of the event, The Romanian Radio National Orchestra.

The event, organized by Radio Romania, will take place at Sala Radio between September 23 and October 1. Tickets are available online here, but can also be purchased from Germanos, Orange, Vodafone, Domo, Carrefour stores, Carturesti and Humanitas bookshops, OMV gas stations, and the Romanian Radio Hall ticket office.
