Average net salary goes slightly up in Romania in June

The average net salary went up to RON 2,078 in June (some EUR 460), which represents an increase of 0.7% compared to the previous month, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INS).

The highest average earnings were recorded in the IT service activities (including information service activities) – RON 5,295 (EUR 1,171), while the hotels and restaurants sector saw the lowest earnings – RON 1,251 (EUR 276).

The biggest month-on-month increases were registered in the beverage production industry – 14.5%, and editing activities, water transport, manufacture of computers and electronic and optical products, and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – between 10% and 12.5%.

Slight decreases in average net salaries were registered in the public sector, according to INS. For example, the wages in education went down by 0.7% in June compared to March, while the net salaries in healthcare and social assistance decreased by 0.4%.

When compared to June 2015, the average net salary was 14.3% higher in June this year.
