Annual inflation rate drops to 1.2% in Romania in August
Romania’s annual inflation rate dropped to 1.2% in August, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
By comparison, the annual inflation rate amounted to 1.4% in July.
Romania’s National Bank (BNR) expects an inflation rate of 1.9% at the end of the year, according to its August prognosis. BNR previously estimated a 1.6% inflation for this year.
The inflation is expected to grow to 3.2% at the end of 2018 and 3.5% in the first quarter of 2019, according to BNR. Calculated at constant rates, the inflation rate will reach 2.9% in December 2017, a value above the central inflation target of 2.5%.
