2015 EUROPAfest International Festival in Romania: Who are the winners?

Romania’s 2015 EUROPAfest International Festival has announced its winners. After an incendiary show in the final, the jury has elected the winners of the Bucharest International Jazz Competition: Poland’s Atom String Quartet won the grand prize while Australia’s Pilot won the Best Band award, reports local Mediafax.

The Dinu Lipatti Jeunesses International Music Competition has also announced the winners for the three age categories.

In the B category (aged under 14), the first prize went to Antoni Ingielewicz from Poland. Bulgarian Aleksandar Zayranov won the second prize while the third prize went to German Simon Zhu.

The winners of the C category (aged 14-18) were: Songha Choi (South Korea, UK) – first prize, Radu Kis (Romania) – second prize, and Mengna Zou (China) – third prize. The jury also gave a special award to Nikola Pajanovic from Slovenia.

In the D category (those aged 18-30) the winners were Amalia Hall (New Zealand) – second prize and Ekaterina Valiulina (Russia, Switzerland) – third prize.

The festival announced its winners on Saturday, May 23, during a gala organized at the Odeon Theater in Bucharest.

This year’s edition of EUROPAfest was organized between May 14 and May 23 and gathered over 300 artists from 45 countries.
