For those of you who'll spend the Easter holidays in Romania, we've put together a list of places you might want to visit, as well as one with several events taking place during that period.

First of all, you should know that most Romanians (the orthodox ones, that is) will celebrate Easter on April 24. Many Romanians try to arrange a longer holiday during that period (either the week before or the one after the Eastern Sunday), so book your places in advance anywhere you'd like to go around Romania, as most likely all accommodation places will be pretty busy. With May 1st coming the week-end after Easter, many Romanians might take a longer vacation to include both week-ends.

For a vacation in the mountains, resorts like Predeal, Brasov, Bran, Sinaia or Busteni have several offers with prices between EUR 29 and EUR 250.

Hotel offer in Maramures start from EUR 88 for four days. The prices can reach EUR 188 per person for the Easter holiday. In this area one can visit the monasteries of wood and even Sapanta Happy Cemetery.

For a nice vacation in the beautiful lands of Bucovina, the offers are priced between EUR 184 to EUR 285. In the beautiful Gura Humorului city, the costs vary from a four-day stay for EUR 72 to a six-day stay for EUR 345. In Bucovina one can visit shops with painted eggs and can actively participate in demonstrations. Egg painting is usually practiced in Bucovina.

For an Easter vacation on the Romanian sea-side, the costs vary between EUR 59 and EUR 240. All prices are per person and include traditional Easter meal with painted eggs and lamb steak.

Where to go in Bucharest

Presuming you have already found a place to stay in the capital city Bucharest during Eastern, here are some places you might want to see during this period. The Easter Gifts Fair will take place from April 18 to 23 at Dalles Gallery in Bucharest, every day between 10:00 and 20:00 hours. Baneasa Shopping City will also organize a traditional Easter Fair between April 1 to 23.

Between April 14 to 17 the National Museum of Geology will organize the exhibition with sale of jewelry, gemstones and crystals under the name “Earth Flower Stories”. At Auchan Titan Galeries, an Easter exhibition will take place between April 15 to 17.

The special Easter Edition of the National Fair of traditional, environmental and natural products will take place in Bucharest between April 20-22 at the Academy of Forestry and Agricultural Sciences "Gheorghe Ionescu-Siseşti" Park, between 09:00 - 18:00 hours. The entrance will be free.

We'd recommend you visit the Village Museum during the Eastern week-end. It's the perfect time of the year to visit it, provided the weather will also be nice.

If you like Al di Meola, he'll be in Bucharest on April 21 for a concert – so if you're staying in Bucharest you could spend an evening there. Check back our website for a bigger list of events in Bucharest during the Easter week-end. We're also preparing an article about Easter traditions and traditional food in Romania.
