After having ranked 8th in the Saturday race, Visoiu started in pole position on Sunday, July 28, and managed to stay first throughout the race.

This recent win brought the 17-year old Romanian 44 points in the general ranking, pushing him up on he 10th position.

Visoiu, who comes from the city of Pitesti in Romania, is at his second such win in his career, after the earlier GP3 win at Valencia in June this year.

Financing for Visoiu's passion – which is a costly one, EUR 1 million for his attendance to competitions in the GP3 championship this year – comes from his father, businessman Valentin Visoiu, who owns Conarg Real Estate and is among Romania's wealthiest via his real estate businesses. He also co-owns the hotel Ramada Pitesti.

Robert Visoiu started his racing career at 4, with karting, having won all national prizes at karting ever since. He then moved on to formula Abarth, and more recently to GP3, and plans to advance to GP2.

The GP3 Series is one of the stepping stones for young drivers on the way to the Formula 1 competition. Next up is GP2, after which drivers can graduate to Formula 1. The cars themselves are very similar in look and design to Formula 1 cars, reach top speeds of 285 km/h, accelerate from 0-100 km/h in three seconds and from 0-200 km/h in 7.7 seconds.
