Trade between Romania and the United Arab Emirates reached USD 430 million in the first nine months of this year, double year-on-year. Romanian products like pharmaceuticals, plastics, leather products and electronics were sold on the UAE market, while Romanians imported chemical products from the Emirates.

Romanian Economy Minister Ion Ariton has recently met UAE's Energy Minister Mohamed Bin Dhaen Al Hamli and the Foreign Trade Minister Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qassimi.

Romania has a high potential for producing and exporting food and companies based in UAE could invest in production capacities in Romania and sell products on their home market, according to the two countries' officials.

In terms of UAE investors already in Romania, Dubai Ports Worlds, that operates the Constanta Sud container terminal is one of the UAE- based companies that has invested in Romania. Further cooperation is in sight in the oil and gas sector.
