Two deals with Fondul Proprietatea shares worth EUR 9.9 million were carried through on Wednesday morning on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, according to Ziarul Financiar. As many as 66.5 million Fondul Proprietatea shares were sold in these two transactions, at an average price of RON 0.633 per share. The names of the buyers and sellers in the deal are yet to be revealed.

Fondul Propriatatea is managed by Franklin Templeton, which took over the fund’s management four months ago. The fund was created in 2005 as a joint stock company with a special purpose to provide compensation to the persons whose real estate assets have been confiscated abusively by the Romanian state during the communist regime and who can no longer receive restitution in kind. The value of the fund’s assets is of EUR 3.5 billion. There are 13.7 billion Fondul Proprietatea shares, each with a nominal value of RON 1. The highest trading price on the Bucharest Stock Exchange since listing has been of RON 0.6365.
