Three underground passages proposed for Free Press Square area in Bucharest

28 September 2011

Three underground passages are planned to be built in the Free Press Square area in the capital city, according to the project presented recently in the Technical Commission of Urban Planning, quoted by Hotnews.ro.

The first passage is expected to be between DN1 and Kiseleff Blvd., while the second passage would continue the first one and will allow exit on the Expozitiei Blvd., and the third one would link Kiseleff Blvd and Poligrafiei Blvd. in Bucharest. If the three passages would be approved, the speed in the Free Press Square intersection would increase from 25 km per hour to 44 km per hour, according to the project.

The commission approved the feasibility study for the first passage that links DN 1 to Kiseleff Blvd., but didn’t approved yet the final version.  The value of this passage would amount to about EUR 22.5 million.
