Three digital publishers in Romania join hands for Project Agora marketplace

19 June 2014

Three digital media groups active in Romania have joined hands to start a marketplace called Project Agora, which aims to increase the local publishers’ market share. Mediafax, Ringier and ThinkDigital are the three networks which announced their plan to launch Project Agora in collaboration with TailWind, part of Think Digital.

“Local publishers continue to be the smallest soldier in a war which is held by international giants. While digital advertising is on the rise, the share of local players has stagnated or decreased. Publisher alliances are flourishing throughout the world because they offer the only way for local companies to regain market share and their strategic independence,” said Odysseas Ntotsikas, founder and managing director of Think Digital.

The three publishers together own 75 websites and deliver 450 million impressions a month, targeting 4 million Romanians. The Project Agora will consist in creating ‘trustful websites, which will bring added value to advertisers, ensuring the protection of local publishers,” according to the companies. The project will be officially launched this autumn.
