Kogainon Films, a US-based media production company set up by film director Nicholas Dimancescu (in picture), plans to continue a series of documentaries focusing on Romania, after having released two documentaries about Romania in the world wars. The production company will release a documentary about Romanian ancestors Dacians and Romans, hoping to bring a fresh story line which would change the old fashion view of Romanians' ancestors, Nicholas Dimancescu tells Romania-Insider.com.

The Czech Center of Bucharest will organize a mute film festival called “No silence, please”, which will feature screenings of early cinema masterpieces , accompanied by live music. The program will begin at 20,00 hours on Thursday, February 3, with the Czech movie “Extas” made in 1933 by director Gustav Machatý - the world’s first film that contains a nudity scene. The film will be accompanied by a live guitar performance from Hanno Hofer, Nightloosers band leader.

A new Romanian movie called “Hello, how are you?” ('Buna, ce faci?)will be released this spring. The movie will be released on March 4 and is produced by the ABS Film Company. Alexandru Maftei is the film’s director and starring actors - Ionel Mihailescu and Dana Voicu.

Romanian Bogdan Mustata is one of the four winners of the Sundance Institute/Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award. His film project, called 'Wolf' (Lupu'), joins three other projects in Israel, Malaysia and Mexico. Each of the winners will receive a USD 10,000 cash prize, attendance at industry meetings at the Sundance Film Festival, mentoring from Institute staff and participation in a feature film program lab.

The documentary "The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu, produced by Andrei Ujica, has won the Spotlight section at the Cinema Eye Honors, one of the most important categories of awards granted to non-fiction films. Dedicated to films that deserve more promotion in the United States, Spotlight is the only category that takes into account films that have not yet been distributed overseas.
