Famous Icelandic band to play in Romania for the first time next July

Well-known Icelandic band Sigur Ros will perform in Romania for the first time next year. Their gig will take place on July 14, within the Electric Castle music festival organized at the Banffy Castle in Cluj.

Sigur Ros are a post-rock band from Reykjavik, Iceland, who have been active since 1994. Their music appeared on the soundtrack of several movies and TV series. The band’s members also appeared in a Games of Thrones episode. Find out more about the band here.

According to Teodor Negrea, the artistic director of Electric Castle, some 120,000 people are expected to participate at the 2016 edition of the festival, reports local Mediafax. This year, the festival drew in some 100,000 people.

Next year, Electric Castle will take place between July 14 and July 17. Its lineup also includes Paul Kalkbrenner, Rusko, Flux Pavilion, Dub Pistols, Gui Boratto, God Is An Astronaut, Legowelt, and Romanian artists Urma, Mihai Popoviciu, and The Model.

A winter sale pass for the festival, available until December 17, costs RON 279 (EUR 63).
