Samsung shows interest in public – private partnership to create Romania's Property Register

Romania's Regional Development and Tourism Minister Elena Udrea (in picture) has recently met Samsung representatives and proposed the company to take part in the bid to create Romania's General Land Register, or in projects like the Polivalent Hall in Bucharest and the Ghencea eco-neighborhood.

Elena Udrea has met Samsung vice-president Yang-Bai Kim and talked about the possibility of a public – private partnership. Yang-Bai Kim showed his interest in developing the company's operations in Romania, according to the Ministry. “We already have financing sollutions and we are ready to make this investment,” he said.

The Regional Development and Tourism Ministry has recently taken over the National Agency for Land register and Real Estate Publicity and has made a priority of creating an electronic land register. It would include electronic maps and data would be published online.

“Acquisitions procedures will start shortly, so that in three months we can start creating the Land Register and Romania would finally have an overview of all real estate properties, as it has pledged for international institutions. […] We are now in a situation of properties lapping over, or more people owning titles over the same properties. The areas owned in Romania, according to the issued titles is bigger than the country's area,” said Udrea.
