Romania’s trade deficit down 5% year-on-year in November 2011

Romania’s trade deficit went down to EUR 899.7 million in November 2011 - a 5 percent drop compared to the same month the previous year, according to the Romanian National Statistics Institute (INS). Exports grew by 13.7 percent to EUR 4.12 billion, while imports advanced by 9.9 percent, to EUR 5 billion.

Romania delivered goods worth EUR 2.9 billion in EU member states in November 2011, 10.6 percent more than in the same month in 2010, while exports to countries outside the EU increased by 22.8 percent, to EUR 1.13 billion.

Compared to October 2011, exports grew by 0.6 percent, according to INS.

Romania posted a trade deficit of EUR 8.6 billion in the first 11 months of 2011, down 0.5 percent compared to the same period in 2011, according to INS.
