Romania's anticorruption prosecutors sent to court businessmen Dorin Cocos and Dumitru Nicolae, suspended mayor Gheorghe Stefan and former Minister Gabriel Sandu.

They are all trialed for their involvement in the sale of Microsoft licenses to the state.

The High Court of Cassation and Justice will decide the trial start date, reports local Mediafax.

Dorin Cocos, Nicolae Dumitru and Gheorghe Stefan are charged with influence peddling and money laundering, whereas Gabriel Sandu is charged with bribery and money laundering.

Dorin Cocos asked and received EUR 9 million from businessmen Claudiu Florica and Dinu Pescariu to make sure that their companies get contracts to sell Microsoft licenses to the state, according to prosecutors.

They have also accused Cocos of demanding EUR 17.5 million to intervene for the acquisition of Microsoft licenses.
