Romania's inflation rate slows down to 3.45% in September

The annual rate of inflation slowed down to 3.45 percent in September in Romania. Food products were 1.72 percent more expensive, while non-food products grew in price by 4.84 percent, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics.

The month-on-month consumer prices went down by 0.21 percent, as food was 1.18 percent cheaper and non-food products were 0.24 percent more expensive, according to statistics. The annual inflation rate was of 4.25 percent in August.

The biggest increases in prices were recorded in August on eggs – 5 percent, and fuel, 1.07 percent. Train ride tariffs also grew by 7.06 percent.

The biggest decreases in price were recorded for potatoes, 25.3 percent cheaper in September, while vegetables and canned vegetables were 13.3 percent cheaper.
