Romania’s industrial production up 1.9% in August on gas & electricity, mining growth

The industrial production in Romania went up by 1.9 percent compared to the previous month, due to the increase recorded in all three industrial sectors, namely the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (up 6.5 percent), mining (up 2.8 percent), and manufacturing (up 1.8 percent), according to the Romanian Statistics Institute (INS).

The industrial production  increased by 7.4 percent compared to the same month last year, due to increases in manufacturing, extractive industry, and production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning.

In gross series, the industrial production in Romania decreased by 7.1 percent in August compared to July, 2011, due to the manufacturing sector that went down by 9.4 percent, while compared to the same month last year increased by 10.3 percent, according to INS.
