Romania's Dacia to build Euro 6 engines after EU funds investments in testing facilities

25 February 2014

Romanian car maker Dacia, controlled by French Renault, will start building Euro 6 engines towards the end of 2014, following two investment projects worth around EUR 38 million.

The company general manager Nicolas Maure recently signed EU funding agreements for EUR 13 million out of the needed EUR 38 million.

The funding will allow Dacia to test the new engines and invest in a center for vehicle prototypes and testing benches, according to Maure.

Dacia will build new infrastructure elements for new production lines and will build two halls where it will test engines and cars.

The new projects will create and then maintain 108 new jobs, and will also entail three innovation patents.

Dacia upped its sales by 19 percent last year, to some 430,000 units. More about its sales here/
