Romanian song makes it to the 2015 Eurovision final

20 May 2015

Romanian pop-rock band Voltaj qualified on Tuesday evening, May 19, to the final of the 2015 Eurovision competition, with their song De la Capat/All Over Again. The final will take place on Saturday, May 23, in Vienna.

“We are very, very, very happy,” said Calin Goia, the band’s lead singer, after the results were announced, reports local Agerpres.

According to Liana Stanciu, the head of the Romanian delegation, this is the 21st consecutive year when Romania qualifies to the Eurovision final.

Voltaj’s song aims to raise a red flag about the situation of thousands of Romanian children left behind as their parents go abroad for work.

“It’s imperative to solve this problem, the situation must be solved immediately. We are part of Europe. We are a veteran band. It’s great that we can share this message with you,” said Calin Goia. However, this is not just a Romanian problem, he added.

Voltaj will play in the second half of the final. The other nine finalists selected on Tuesday were Albania, Armenia, Russia, Hungary, Greece, Estonia, Georgia, Serbia, and Belgium. The second semi-final will take place on Thursday, May 21.
