Romanian prosecutors seize EUR 150 mln worth of goods in 2014

04 December 2014

Romanian anti-corruption prosecutors have seized goods worth EUR 150 million since the beginning of the year, but these will get into the state's patrimony only in four or five years, according to Marius Bulancea, adviser to the Chief Prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA).

"Given that the goods seized in 2014 will be subject to court verdicts over the next three, four or five years, they will enter into the State's ownership only then. These goods have been actually seized - 416 buildings, 93 cars - so that their capitalization should be carried out easily," said the adviser to the DNA Chief Prosecutor, cited by local Mediafax.

After court sentences become final, the Romanian Tax Authority (ANAF) must deal with the seized goods, Bulancea added.
