Romanian prosecutors recently arrested a prime prosecutor from the Macin Court for 24 hours, for taking bribes. Besides money, the suspect also allegedly received a rather strange bribe: a calf.

In February this year, prime prosecutor Constantin Balaban allegedly received a 70-kg calf as bribe from three people, according to a statement of the National Anticorruption Department DNA. In return, he was supposed to favorably settle a criminal case in which the three people were investigated for personal injury.

Last year in June, the suspect also received EUR 600 from another person who had his driving license canceled after being caught drink driving.

Between August and September 2014, Balaban again received money as a bribe. Another person gave him EUR 550 and RON 700 in return for help in a case in which he was investigated for drink driving, according to DNA.
