Romanian PM proposes new head for state-owned lender CEC Bank

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who recently took over the Finance Minister interim helm, proposed Enache Jiru as president of state-owned lender CEC Bank, replacing Radu Ghetea.

Jiru worked at Romania’s Central Bank between May 1991 and December 1997, while from January 1998 he was treasury director at BNP - Dresdner Bank Romania.

In 2000, he was named vice-president of CEC Bank, but one year later he moved to the Ministry of Finance to run the state treasury. In 2004, he returned to CEC Bank, but as president of the Romanian lender, a position he occupied for less than a year.

Jiru held several important positions in private and public institutions, including Energy Holding and MKB Romexterra Fond de Pensii.

He has been the state secretary at the Finance Ministry since July 2012. His entire CV here.
