Romanian PM: IT company readies hundred million euro investment for Romania

28 November 2011

An IT company is preparing a hundred million euro investment for Romania, said Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc, without disclosing the name of the company or the investment location. “What I can tell you now is that there are many investments about to happen in Romania; big, important corporations. For confidentiality reasons, I cannot make them public,” said the PM.

Romania has recently lost the Nokia investment in Jucu, where Nokia ran a factory. The phone producer decided to shut down the factory in Romania and relocate to Asia, where production costs and salaries are lower. The move affected the 2,200 employees, who have been sent home with three months’ salary and a Nokia smartphone in redundancy pay.
