Romanian online IT&C retailer eMag.ro starts selling books and toys

Romanian online retailer eMag.ro has entered the books segment through a partnership with distributor Libris, the new category being available on the Marketplace platform, according to the company.

The offer includes over 20,000 book titles from all areas, from over 500 publishers. Besides books, eMag will also sell toys on the Marketplace platform, through another partnership. So far, Emag.ro has been selling electronic products, equipments, IT&C products.

“Considering the uptrend that is registered in the online book sales worldwide, the investment in the online book market will be a strategic direction for eMag”, according to the company.

Along with Asesoft Distribution and Flanco, eMag is part of the group of companies controlled by businessman Iulian Stanciu. In 2010 the company, which is the biggest online shop in Romania, posted a turnover of EUR 102 million, up 60 percent from 2009.
