Romanian Olt Court president held by prosecutors

24 March 2015

The anticorruption prosecutors on Monday, March 23, held judge Carmen Marinescu, the president of the Olt Tribunal, for bribery, influence peddling and false declarations.

They accuse her of taking EUR 200,000 in 2011 to give a favourable solution in a trial and intervene to the other judges who were to hear the case.

She received the money through a lawyer, and somebody turned informant, according to judicial sources, cited by local Mediafax.

Marinescu has been president of the Olt Tribunal since December 2014.
