Romanian IT &C and electronics retailers expect 40% sales growth in December

Retailers in Romania expect the IT and electronic products to record significant sales increase in December, to around 40 percent. The sales of personal computers is also expected to post a growth in the winter holiday season, due to the upward trend in sales of IT & C category, confirmed by the results of the last half of 2011, according to Florin Davin, Marketing Manager of the Romanian Altex. “We expect that in December sales of PCs to grow by 35 percent, encouraged by promotions and campaigns launched during this holidays,” he added.

The Romanian retailer Flanco also hopes for a growth in sales during this winter period, after posting a turnover of EUR 65 million in the first nine months of this year, up 50 percent on the same period of last year. According the retailer’s Product Management Manager, Catalin Marin, the sales will be supported by the growth in the IT and electronics categories, and also by the marketing campaigns prepared for this season. Moreover, Flanco’s premium products are expected to reach 10 percent of the total sales in the next period.

The Romanian IT&C and equipments retailer Domo also sees an increase in sales for December, due to the new stores opened in the last two months, namely the ones in Craiova, Constanta, Bucharest and Oradea. Moreover, the retailer plans to open other units in Botosani, Sibiu and Pitesti.

The IT&C online market is also expected to post a growth in December. Thus, online retailer eMAG also sees significant increases on this market, due to the small prices and delivery made across the country. “eMAG’s offer for winter holiday includes over 20,000 products. The “stars” of the eMAG categories for this period will be the notebooks, tablets and smartphones,” according to Mihai Traistaru, Procurement Manager, eMAG.

evoMAg expects 30 percent growth in sales compared to an average month, and a 40 percent increase compared to 2010, said Mihai Patrascu, Executive Manager, evoMAG.

Microsoft and Intel have recently organized the “Holiday PC Showcase” exhibition that gathered together some of the most original notebooks of manufacturers like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Fujitsu, Lenovo, Maguay, Sony, Samsung and Toshiba.
