Romanian Financial Surveillance Authority suspends activity of brokerage firm Carpatica Invest

16 May 2014

The activity of brokerage firm Carpatica Invest will be suspended for three months, the Romanian Financial Surveillance Authority has decided. This will allow the company to solve its financial situation and attract new capital resources.

During the three-month the company will be able to deposit or withdraw money to or from the customers’ accounts, as well make transfers to the Central Depositary.

The ASF last year gave a RON 22,000 – or EUR 4,800 fine to Carpatica Invest, representing 1 percent of its 2012 turnover, as the firm had not added an extra person to its two – person board.
The brokerage firm is part of the Carpatica Group, which has been involved in several financial scandals in Romania.
