Romanian digital textbook producer opens office in London

09 January 2015

Read Forward, the Romanian startup that developed the first digital textbook in Romanian and is now producing textbooks used in schools, will open this month its first international office in London, the company announced in a statement.

The company will get seed funding and access to a series of partnerships on the British market, after being selected in Emerge Education, a London-based accelerator programme for education start-ups.

Read Forward won the selection process of Emerge Education with its Learn Forward educational software, at the end of 2014. The office in London will be launched in mid-January, as a British company named after the company’s software - Learn Forward Limited.

The two companies, Read Forward (Romania) and Learn Forward Limited (UK) will work together to develop the software and to offer digital textbook publishing services for clients in both Romania and the UK.

“The digital textbook market is about to boom in Europe,” said Paul Balogh, Read Forward co-founder. “However, much too often digital textbooks are just shadows of physical textbooks. What we aim with our software is a new type of digital textbooks, which should contribute to improving the educational process. For us, success means helping and not confusing teachers with technology.”

Read Forward is a start-up founded in 2012 by entrepreneurs Cristian Dinu and Paul Balogh.

Emerge Education is a 3-month, London-based accelerator programme for start-ups aiming to improve educational outcomes worldwide.
