Romanian Dacia launches Dokker model this year

18 May 2012

Romanian car maker Dacia will launch two new models in the second half of this year, the Dokker and the Dokker VAN. The five-seat Dokker, whose name derives from the English term for a dockworker, is suitable for the transport of sizable objects or of five people. Dacia has not yet announced the price for the new models.

According to French media, Dokkers will be produced at the company's factory in Tangier, Morocco, and prices could stay under EUR 10,000 for the gasoline model, and EUR 11,500 for the diesel model.

Dacia's latest launch was in March, for the model Lodgy, the first model produced outside Romania, which has a EUR 9,500 starting price.

Dacia, owned by French Renault, has several models in its portfolio, Logan, Sandero and Duster. Dacia is Renault's second most sold brand, and Romania is the group's sixth largest market. Half of the company's sales last year were covered by the Duster model. In Romania, Dacia sold over 30,700 cars last year, and worldwide, 327,000 units. The company's main export markets are France and Germany.
