Romanian Central Bank governor: We have people for Prime Minister

06 November 2015

The effects of the current political situation in Romania depend on how fast a new Government is formed, said Romania’s National Bank (BNR) governor Mugur Isarescu.

He added that the current macroeconomic situation in Romania was stable, reports local Mediafax.

When asked about the possibility to have a technocrat from the central bank becoming Romania’s Prime Minister, Isarescu answered that BNR had reserve staff, so it was possible.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta resigned on Wednesday, after 25,000 people took out to the streets asking him to leave, after 32 people died in Bucharest’s Colectiv club last week.
