Romania to increase mining taxes by up to 6.7%

The Romanian government will raise the mining taxes by up to 6.7 percent, less than a year since the previous increase, estimating to add an extra RON 630,000 (some EUR 141,000) to the state budget.

The mining prospecting fee will increase to RON 341 (around EUR 76) per square kilometer, the exploration tax will raise to RON 1,366 (EUR 307) from RON 1,280 (EUR 287), and the exploitation tax will go up to RON 34,152 (over EUR 7,600) per square kilometer, according to Mediafax.

These increases are set out in a draft resolution prepared by the National Agency for Mineral Resources.
