Romania reports EU's highest year-on-year construction output rise

Romania recorded the highest year-on-year increase in construction output among the EU member states in November 2011, with 16.9 percent rise, according to Eurostat. Romania was followed by Poland with an increase of 14.7 percent, and Germany with 9.9 percent.

The largest year-on-year decreases recorded in November 2011 were in Portugal - down 12.2 percent, Bulgaria - down 10.2 percent, and Slovenia - down 10 percent.

Compared to the previous month, the construction output in Romania rose by 3 percent, compared to an increase of 0.8 percent in the EU27 and just 0.4 percent in the eurozone. The highest month-on-month increases were recorded in Slovenia - up 23.1 percent, Hungary - up 7.4 percent, and Germany - up 4.5 percent.
