Romania records budget deficit of 1.3% of GDP between January-September

Romania recorded a consolidated budget deficit of EUR 1.8 billion (RON 8.1 billion) in the first nine months of the year, namely 1.3 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), shows data released by the Romanian Ministry of Finance.

Consolidated budget revenues went up 4.4 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of 2013, to some EUR 33.4 billion (RON 147.3 billion), representing 23.5 percent of the GDP.

The spending amounted to around EUR 35.3 billion (RON 155.4 billion) in the period between January-September 2013, representing 24.8 percent of the GDP.

In August 2013, the country’s budget deficit was 1.27 percent of the GDP.
