Romania hosts Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major Championship this autumn

01 September 2015

Romania will host its first Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) Major tournament this autumn, at DreamHack Cluj-Napoca. Romania is the fourth country in the world to organize such an event, after Germany, Sweden, and Poland. This will be the last Major tournament of the year.

Between October 29 and November 1, CS:GO fans will have the chance to see the best 16 teams in the world at Sala Palatului in Cluj-Napoca. The teams will compete for a championship title and prizes of USD 250,000.

“Having a Major tournament is the biggest achievement so far. Through what PGL produces, Romania’s electronic sports scene is among the top 5 biggest e-sports events in the world,” said Silviu Stroie, president of PGL.

Eight teams with the title of Legends will receive a direct invitation to participate in the tournament, based on their performances in the last Major. Eight other teams will have the chance to participate in the tournament, with the title of Challenger, following online qualifications.

Tickets and subscriptions for DreamHack Cluj-Napoca can be purchased online from shop.computergames.ro, bilete.ro, and myticket.ro, or from Germanos and Inmedio stores, Romanian Post offices, Mihai Eminescu bookshop, Unirii 1 metro station, and Palatul Copiilor in Bucharest.
