Romania expropriates houses with EUR 83 mln for national road while planning 900 km of highways

Romania will pay some EUR 83 million to expropriate 855 buildings and make way for the 184-kilometer national road connecting Deva to Oradea. The state budget will cover these expenses.

Meanwhile, the country's Transport Ministry plans to increase Romania's highway network to some 900 kilometers in 2013, from the current 313 kilometers. The Ministry is currently working on some 630 additional kilometers of highway in Romania, while other projects are in the beginning phase. Investments in infrastructure should reach EUR 16.7 billion by 2016, said Transport Minister Anca Boagiu. Romania has already signed financing contracts worth some EUR 1.5 billion, according to the minister.
