Romania will export drinking water to Hungary

25 June 2015

The Arad Water Company, controlled by the Arad County Council, will export drinking water to Hungary through a 33-km pipeline between Arad and Bekes. The pipeline construction will start next month.

The Hungarian part will finance the investment, which amounts to EUR 10 million, reports local Wall-street.ro.

The two countries signed a partnership in 2011, and the construction should have started in 2012. However, the authorities said that some necessary studies have taken more time than expected.

Romania will deliver on average 22,000 cubic meters per day, but not more than 30,000 cubic meters per day, said Oana Hantig, spokesperson for the Arad company.
