12 May 2016

Romania is up three places in a recent ranking of the most connected consumers to the digital world. The country ranks 50th among 78 countries and regions of the world, which is dominated by Hong Kong, North America and the United Arab Emirates.

Eastern European countries come mid-ranking, with the Czech Republic best placed, followed by Slovenia and Poland. Romania, Serbia and Ukraine have the worst positions in the area. But Romania, Slovakia and Hungary managed to climb three places each since last year’s edition.

The ranking, called GfK Connected Consumer Index, shows how inhabitants of the world connect to 11 devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, PCs, wearables, smart TVs, smart car, and intelligent houses.

It also highlights the tendencies of the last five years in this area, including the increasing use of wearable devices, tablets, smart cars, and the stagnating PC market. The study helps companies identify the most or least connected consumers, thus better markets for their products.
