Romanian insurer UNIQUA Asigurari gets new sales manager

Austrian Franz Weiler joins the executive board of Romanian insurer UNIQUA Asigurari, as vice president and chief sales officer, according to a company press release.

Weiler, 55, was previously head of Austian group UNIQUA’s operations in Serbia, but he also had management positions in UNIQUA Croatia and UNIQUA Austria. The company’s management team is led by Florin Golovatic, who is president of the executive board.

“UNIQUA is a stable player on the Romanian insurance market and we will continue to develop by focusing on sustainability and profitable growth,” Weiler said.

In 2013, UNIQUA saw a 13 percent growth in gross premium underwritten, to almost EUR 130 million. The company’s net profit was EUR 4.2 million. For 2014, the company’s main objectives are to reduce the exposure on auto insurance and to grow the health and goods insurance segment. In 2013, UNIQUA was number five on the general insurance segment, with a market share of about 8 percent.

UNIQUA Asigurari also announced that starting June, Andreas Kossl is the new chairman of the supervisory board. Kossl, who is also Austrian, is member of the executive board of UNIQUA International, which controls the group’s operations in the region.
