Several private investors have invested EUR 6 million in a new wine brand on the Romanian market, Lacerta Winery, which positions itself on the premium segment. The funding for this investment came from both private investments and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

The Lacerta wines are produced in Dealu Mare vineyards, on some 82 hectares. The company owns a wine pressing house, a wine tasting area and a store in Fintesti, Buzau county. For the time being, the production is exclusively destined for the Romanian market. Lacerta can produce 380,000 liters of wine a year.

“Although traditionally Romanians drink sweet and semi-sweet wines, the tendency indicate an increase for quality, dry wines. Our winery is located on the same geographic coordinates with Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion and Tuscany, all recognized for the dry wines,” said Walter Friedl, one of the investors in the Lacerta Winery.
