Passing rate of only 76% at Romania's National Evaluation this year

The Romanian Ministry of Education has recently published the results before appeals for the National Evaluation, the exam at the end of the secondary school cycle.

The participation rate in this year's session of the National Evaluation was 95.3%. Exactly 154,115 eighth-grade graduates took the exam out of the 161,652 registered students. The percentage did not exceed 95.5% last year and it stood at 93.9% in 2021, according to Biziday.

Out of the attending students, 117,507 obtained grades equal to or higher than 5, resulting in a passing rate of 76.2%, compared to 76.8% in 2021 and 82.3% in 2022.

Almost a quarter of the students received grades below 5, compared to 17.73% in 2022. This year's percentage is comparable to that of 2021 (23.2%) and equal to that of 2020.

At the same time, 429 middle school graduates concluded the exam with a perfect score of 10, compared to 221 last year and 132 in 2021.

Three students were disqualified due to attempted fraud, and their papers were marked with a grade of 1.

Just over 77% of students (119,732) passed the Romanian Language and Literature test, slightly lower than in the past two years. 116,301 students (75.4%) achieved a grade of at least five in the mathematics test, a lower percentage than last year (77.5%), but higher than in 2021 (67.4%).

Appeals can be submitted until Thursday, June 29 (from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM). The final results will be announced on July 4.
