Romanian parliament adopts new “pole tax” for energy companies

01 November 2018

Romania’s Chamber of Deputies voted on Wednesday, October 31, the change of the Fiscal Code to include the poles that support wind turbines among the fixed assets on which companies must pay taxes.

The local authorities will thus be able to collect taxes from companies that operate wind parks for such constructions, local Profit.ro reported.

The bill was initiated by the ruling party PSD and passed in an emergency procedure. It will now go to president Klaus Iohannis for promulgation.

The Finance Ministry agreed to the introduction of this new tax saying that it was justified after the elimination of the tax on special buildings, which mainly affected energy companies.
