The “Open Streets - Bucharest, Urban Promenade” event, which closes several venues and streets in Bucharest to vehicle traffic, starts this weekend (April 30-May 1).

This year's edition of the event will be organized on weekends between April 30 and October 16. Several pedestrian areas will be established in the central area of the city as part of this project, namely Calea Victoriei and adjacent streets, George Enescu Square, Universitatii Square, Unirii Boulevard and Kiseleff Road. Other streets in each of the six districts could also join the project.

During the April 30-May 1 weekend, Kiseleff Road (on the section between Arhitect Ion Mincu street and Monetariei street), Calea Victoriei (between Victoriei Square and Splaiul Independentei) and Unirii Boulevard (between Splaiul Independentei and Dimitrie Cantemir Boulevard and between Dimitrie Cantemir Boulevard and Mircea Vodă Boulevard) will be pedestrian-only from 09:00 to 22:00.

The new pedestrian-only zones will host outdoor theatre performances, shows and activities for children, exhibitions, or sports activities. The World Press Photo Romania exhibition, which will await visitors in Universitatii Square between May 1 and June 4, is also part of the project.
