Romanian authorities withdraw official rating for ten seaside hotels

12 July 2017

Ten hotels located by the Romanian seaside and a hotel in Baile Herculane in South-Western Romania received fines totaling RON 50,000 (EUR 11,000) and lost their rating certificates, following an inspection carried out between July 5 and July 10 by the Tourism Ministry’s Control Department.

Authorities found several irregularities like damaged facades, worn-out furniture and bathrooms, damaged carpets, dirty mattresses. The same irregularities had been found in previous controls, but the hotel managers failed to bring improvements, according to the ministry.

Hotel representatives can submit complaints for up to 15 days after receiving the fines.
