The number of Romanian users on Facebook reached 7 million in 2013, up by 25 percent compared to the previous year, according to Facebrands.ro, which centralizes information about Facebook use in Romania.

“The capital city still has the most Facebook users in Romania, 1.4 million, but the number now represents only 21.9 percent of total users who have set their city in the profile, compared to 25.7 percent in the previous year,” according to Facebrands.ro.

Bucharest is followed by Cluj Napoca, Iasi, Timisoara and Constanta. Other nine other cities now have more than 100,000 Facebook users, namely Craiova, Brasov, Galati, Ploiesti, Oradea, Arad, Bacau, Pitesti and Sibiu.

Facebook is a social media network founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. In 2013, it had 1.19 billion monthly active users, out of which 874 million used Facebook mobile products. Approximately 80 percent of its daily active users are outside the U.S. and Canada.
