10 May 2010

A new round of air flights delay has been triggered by the Icelandic volcano ash cloud, having also influenced several flights to and from Romania. Three flights to Italy, one to Spain and two to Germany were canceled yesterday. Three flights to Italy, leaving from the Baneasa airport, have also been canceled. The volcanic ash cloud could reach the western part of Romania today, this time at below 6,000 km altitude, according to the Romanian Environment Ministry. The Icelandic volcano disrupted the European air traffic mid – April, when more than 100,000 flights were canceled during one week and over 8 million passengers were unable to travel to their desired destination. The volcano has started throwing ash into the atmosphere again. It has triggered a partial shutdown of air trafic in Portugal, France and Spain.
